Friday I had the opportunity to attend the Antiques at the Gardens show put on by the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
StyleBlueprint Birmingham invited me, as a blogger, to be a part of a Q&A panel with some incredible talented tastemakers, from landscape design to florals to interiors and a little bit in between. SBP did an amazing job setting it up, and the tastemakers were packed full of experience and knowledge. If I could have sat down personally with each one of them for a hour, I still wouldn’t have gotten to know everything about them. I admire each of them and the stories that they shared of how they got to where they are today.
The 2015 Tastemaker Panel: Left to Right
Daniel McCurry, Landscape Designer and co-owner of Father Nature Landscapes; James Farmer author of “A Time to Celebrate” and Editor At Large for Southern Living Magazine;Lydia Purcell, owner of Leaf & Petal and former Editor and Stylist for Coastal Living and Cottage Living; Fran Keenan of Fran Keenan Design
After the event, they handed out these amazing swag bags! We each received a coffee cup (that mimics a clay pot) c/o the Bham Botanical Gardens, a mini bottle of Lamarca Proseco sparkling wine c/o Handley McCrory, a sampling of sriracha lime sea salt c/o Savor Salt Co., the October issue of Flower magazine, and a hand-drawn guide to floral patterns in oriental rugs c/o Paige Albright Orientals.
We then were invited to the After Hours meet-n-mingle where I met some local designers in Birmingham and feasted on the most delicious cheeses c/o Stone Hollow Farmstead. They also had a celebrity bartender mixing up fabulous cocktails. I snapped some gorgeous floral installations that were to die for.
I contemplated sneaking this one out the back door.
Overall, it was a great chance to meet many popular faces of Birmingham and learn a little bit about how they got to where they are today all while getting Thirty-Seventh Avenue’s name out there. I’m incredibly honored to have attended and thank StyleBlueprint for the opportunity.
