Reading Challenge: Book 1

After a week of browsing the shelves at Barnes and Noble and Goodreads.com, I finally picked up my first book for the year: a biography of the captivating, modest but beautiful Kate Middleton. I’ve always been fascinated with the Royal Family, but when Kate came into the picture I was hooked. She’s a woman of  poise, always dressed to impress, but not pretentious. She’s truly a “people’s Princess.”

Kate: The Future Queen by Katie Nicholl is the story of Kate’s early life, first romances, and love with Prince William. I read one chapter last night, because I could not wait, and learned the background of Kate’s parents and grandparents which was really interesting. Her mother came from nothing, but her father was in the working middle-class and inherited a great fortune. The two worked at the British Airways, until Carole, Kate’s mother, became pregnant. Imagining that the child you’re carrying will one day walk the halls of Buckingham Palace with the King of England seems like but a dream. Seems bizarre, right? I can’t wait to read more.

Now, if only I had Kate’s closet.
